Question about Glycolic Treatments

Posted on: April 5, 2009

Hi,

I love your show and wish it was longer!!!!
I currently use Glymed Glycolic and at this time I am looking for a cheaper alternative. Is the ROC comparable??? I love the glycolic treatment.
Also on your show I missed the blackhead mask that’s over the counter you mentioned.
Thanks for all of your great tips.
I also really like the Dr. Hauschka products. I love the lip balm in the tube.

Thanks, Monica

Dear Monica

Thank you for your email, so glad that you love my show!

ROC would be a good alternative to what you’re using, although you’d have to check the percentage of glycolic in each cream. I don’t remember recommending a blackhead mask on my show because they’re not effective. You should have a facial with a good aesthetician every two to three months to extract blackheads. At the salons we carry and excellent glycolic treatment by Yon-Ka, called Alpha Contour. It’s just below a professional strength product. If you call the salon at 212-677-7315 x 4 we would be happy to send one to you. Hope this helps.

Best,

Eva

    Hi,

I was looking at the Yon-Ka product and the Alpha contour says for eyes and lips. Can I use that all over my face??

  2. evascrivo Says:

I don’t recommend Alpha Countour for the rest of your face because it actually pulls water from the skin and dehydrates it. That’s why it’s meant to be used under the eyes to help with eye puffiness.

Does Yonka make a gylcolic for the face?? I was using the Glymed glycolic for my face and looking for a replacement.

  4. evascrivo Says:

    Hi Monica,

Yes, Alpha Complex by Yonka is a treatment used at night time underneath your moisturizer. It is non-irritating to the skin and can be used regularly, although use every other night if your skin is sensitive.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hi Eva,
I have been getting laser treatment for almost a year every six weeks with a candela gentle lase and really don’t see much improvement in skin tightness or diminishing of wrinkles. I have sensitive skin and have also used Retin A in the past but always quit because of dryness and flaking. Do know of a better laser for skin firming and can you use Retin A and lasers together?
    Thanks,
    Jamie

    Hi Eva,

I heard your show today for the first time and loved it! I am 42 and have acne prone, sensitive skin. I was considering the Clarisonic, but was also wondering what facial products you would recommend for someone trying to fight aging and mild acne.

I have tried everything! Look forward to hearing from you, Angelia

    Hi Angelia,

The Clarisonic Brush would be great for your skin type. Start using it on a low speed in order to not irritate your skin any further. I think this will help your acne by using the brush daily, as it usually helps deeply clean the skin thoroughly to help prevent acne. It also clears congestion underneath the skin. Products to use that will improve your skin are gentle cleansers, alcohol free toners, oil free moisturizers and a prescription strength retinol cream. Ask your dermatologist if Renova or Retin-A would be suitable for your skin type. Also visit my Beauty Boutique at evasbeautystore.com, under skin care and Yonka - I would recommend Gel Nettoyant for a cleanser, Lotion for Normal to Oily as a toner, and Creme 15 as your moisturizer. This is a combination that I use personally that is for combination skin, I also use the Clarisonic Brush at night. Using these products in my daily routine works great for me!

I hope this helps! Please let me know how these things work for you.

Help I need help for my daughter with extremely curly hair bordering on frizzy but dont know how to start a new thread? Anyone help?

  10. evascrivo Says:

    Hi DB,

Brushing the hair with a natural bristle brush at night will help bring the natural oils down to the ends. Many people with very curly hair never brush it, for obvious reasons. I recommend brushing it at night or before getting into the shower so you can get all the benefits of hair brushing. Wetting the hair will help reshape and give form back to the curl. The brush must be a natural bristle brush (I have some at http://www.evasbeautystore.com), and not a plastic or metal brush. When brushing you should start at the ends and gradually work your way up the hair. Once your hair is tangle free, massage the brush at the scalp to help exfoliate and rejuvinate your scalp and hair. I hope this helps!
